Senior Adult Ministries
The J.O.Y Ministries seeks to glorify God as we minister to the senior adults of First Baptist Church and those in the Morehead City area. Our senior adults are an essential part of many ministries within our church. It is our goal to provide ministries for our senior adults to grow spiritually, to enjoy fellowship with one another, to serve others, and to gain more knowledge on topics of interest. Come and join us on this mission.

2026 Events
Christmas Show and Shopping in Myrtle Beach
Join us for a fun overnight trip to Myrtle Beach as we enjoy the Greg Rowles Legacy Theater Christmas on Main Show and have time for some Christmas shopping. We will stay at the Comfort Inn – Barefoot Landing. The cost will be as follows: Hotel - $73.81 / Christmas Show - $44.00 / Gas $20 (estimated). We plan on leaving on Monday, November 9 at 9am and returning on Tuesday around 6pm. Register online at www.fbcmhc.org/senior-adults or pick up a registration form in the literature stand. A deposit of $50 is due at time of registration. Balance is due by October 25.
Mike's Farm Christmas Lights & Dinner
Join us as we kick off the Christmas season with a delicious family style southern meal (4pm) and a hay ride (5:30pm) to see the beautiful Christmas Lights at Mike's Farm. Cost for Seniors (56+) is $39 and for Adults (12-55) is $40. We will leave the church at approximately 2pm and should return around 8:30pm. Sign up ASAP with payment to secure your spot on the bus. Pay online when you sign up or pay Carol in the church office or put a check in the offering plate and designate for Mike’s Farm. In the event of rain, we will not be charged for the hayride and will just enjoy the dinner.
Christmas Caroling & Deliver Poinsettias
Join us as we bring a little cheer and Christmas spirit to our homebound as we deliver poinsettias and sing Christmas carols. We will leave from the church at 2:30pm. Please sign up so we will know how many to expect.
Christmas Party
Join us for our Christmas Celebration in our Family Life Center for great fellowship
and food. Deborah Lockey will lead us with some Christmas songs, we will play a few games, and decorate a Christmas Tree for our Festival of Carols & Trees. The theme for our tree will be “Christmas Through the Years”. Please bring some of your old Christmas ornaments, and a photo of Christmases past for the tree. Also, don’t forget to bring your favorite finger foods to share. Sign up before November 30 so we will know how many to expect.

Homecheer
Our Homebound Ministry seeks to bring joy and encouragement to members of our congregation who are unable to attend regularly. Through intentional care and connection, we want each person to feel loved, valued, and a meaningful part of our church family.
“Homebound” includes those recuperating at home, living in assisted living or nursing facilities, or facing ongoing limitations that prevent regular participation in church or community activities.

Senior S-T-R-E-T-C-H
Looking to stay active, flexible, and energized? Join us for our Senior S-T-R-E-T-C-H class every Tuesday from 9:30-10:30am in the Family Life Center. This class is designed for both men and women and provides a fun, low-impact way to improve strength, balance, and overall mobility while enjoying fellowship with others.
