Our Vision and Purpose
The First Baptist Church Music and Arts Academy is a not for profit ministry that was established to provide quality instruction in the arts in a Christian setting to the people in the Carteret County Community.  We strive to honor God by providing excellence in performing and visual arts instruction.  Our purpose is to lead students to develop and use their God-given talents for the glory of our Lord through excellence in instruction and Christ-centered love.

Music & Arts Academy Payments
Payments may be made in full at time of registration by cash or check in the church office. You may pay online* with credit or debit card.

*We believe that financial transparency builds trust and is a mark of stewardship so we want to take a moment to remind you that there is a small cost for the pay-online convenience. This will show as a Registration Fee in the payment field.

Academy Offerings

Private Lessons (In person available for select instruments)
Private lessons are offered weekly in 30, 45, and 60 minute increments and are taught at First Baptist Church. Lessons are offered in Piano, Organ (for advanced piano students only), Voice, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Violin/Suzuki, Viola/Suzuki, Cello/Suzuki, Ukulele, Drum Set, Music Therapy, Music Theory.

Recital performance opportunities are offered at the end of the spring semester and in the fall semester. Students are encouraged to participate in the recitals, and families and friends are invited to attend.

Music & Me
Ages Newborn – 17 months (9:00 am)
Ages 18 months—3.5 years (10:00 am)

Parent or caregiver attends and participates with child/children in this 45 minute class.

Music & Me is an early childhood music and movementclass for mixed ages. Have fun making music together in a relaxed and playful family-style environment, where the children participate at their own level of development, in multi-sensory learning   experiences. Music making in each class will include:Singing and vocalizing, rhythmic chants, finger plays, playing tuned or untuned percussion instruments, dancing, creative movement, music-inspired story time, active listening, making and manipulating a variety of sounds and materials, circle games, calming/bonding activities, etc.

Music activities will be designed to address: Social, emotional, physical, cognitive and musical levels of development, and adults will learn ways to continue and create music making experiences at home.

Led by a board-certified music therapist with over 20 years experience facilitating early childhood music and movement groups.

String Orchestra Camp

String Orchestra Camp is offered for four days during the first week of August to string players of all levels. Camp instruction includes small group classes and orchestra taught by FBC Academy instructors and guest instructors. Snacks and lunch are included in the tuition cost. Families, and community guests are invited to attend the closing concert offered on the last afternoon of camp.
